KITTY HAWK HONOR SOCIETY

Kitty Hawk Air Society (KHAS) is the Air Force Junior ROTC honor society. There are chapters all over the world and its purpose is to promote academic excellence and community service. Our chapter's requirements for induction include a 2.5 cumulative GPA, teacher approval, and a cumulative "B" average in AFJROTC.

At the beginning of each semester, invitations are sent out to qualifying cadets and they go through an induction process before they become members. The cadets have a pledge week, during which all members assemble at the school flag pole to raise and lower the flags each day. They learn the Air Force song. After this there is a formal induction ceremony.

The members of KHAS visit middle schools to encourage the students to do well on testing, to avoid negative influences which surround them, and to tell them what to expect when they get to high school. Graduating seniors receive a blue and white honor cord to wear at graduation.
